Dylan Shropshire, a fifth-generation farmer, was raised on the lush Hamakua Coast of Hawaii’s Big Island, where he continues to live and work. Immersed in his family’s tropical foliage business from an early age, Dylan developed a deep connection to agriculture and the land. After graduating from Hawaii Preparatory Academy, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in International Business and Finance from the Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

​Dylan is also the Co-Founder of Big Island Grown (BIG), one of the eight winning applications for a vertical medical Cannabis dispensary license. Under Dylan's leadership, BIG created history by founding a company that would open up the first dispensary on the Big Island; which is one of the only medical cannabis dispensaries in the world located on an active volcano. BIG operates vertically with a state of art 35,000 square foot cultivation, manufacturing, and extraction operation and three active dispensary locations surrounding the Big Island in Kona, Hilo and Waimea. Dylan’s passion and involvement in cannabis from a young age came full circle in 2019 when BIG was featured in the October issue of High Times magazine! Another huge personal accomplishment was being featured in the prestigious Forbes magazine for the company’s cutting edge sustainability practices in the cannabis industry. Today, BIG is one of the largest private employers in East Hawaii and the top cannabis brand in the state—a testament to Dylan’s vision and leadership.
